Kevin Browne: Songs

Drie Meiden

(Kevin Browne)
This song actually started as a song for three girls from Holland from a family we know there, but writing the entire song in Dutch became quite a challenge, so it turned into a song about one of my students at school, one of the Dutch girls and one girl from Norway with some cultural notes on Holland and Norway. This is one of my favorite songs to play. I really like the chord changes.
Kristina, she likes tea with honey
And winter days, when the skies are sunny
And holidays with fresh-baked cookies
She pirouettes and pliés
And she laughs all the while cause she knows that the summer is ending
And she likes the autumn breeze cause she knows that it leads to December
But she don’t mind it happens all the time

She don’t mind it happens all the time

She don’t mind it happens all the time

(English translation)
Anne-wil, she has beautiful eyes
She remains so still, she has never deceived me
She likes to eat hagelslag for breakfast, she swings every day
And she always laughs and she plays in the yard with her sisters
And she feels a delicious breeze, but she knows that it leads to the winter…
Susanne, she likes to eat goat cheese and lutefisk
She drinks tea for breakfast
In the summertime she hops out of bed and dances outside
And in May she wants to walk with many people in the children’s procession
And she feels a delicious breeze, but she knows that it leads to the winter…
