What's the Question

(Kevin Browne)
April, 2007
You say the world was formed from nothing
And when you die you’ll just be dead
I say that you don’t really believe this
When you lie alone at night in bed
Does it hurt when you fall? Is this pain great or small?
And the voice in your head tells you that something’s wrong
Is this guilt that you feel? When you try to conceal
All the words that hold meaning and spin you ‘round
You say our lives evolved from chaos
And truth is only relative
But you’re angered when your schedule sidetracks
And use your routine like a sedative
Is this life really absurd? Is there one meaningful word?
Or does reason lead you to despair?
If there’s no wrong or right, why do you get uptight?
When injustice is hovering ‘round your door
(instrumental)
I think it hurts when you fall, You can’t fool me at all
And the tears well up in your eyes
If there’s no day or night, Why do you choose to fight
Over words that you say don’t mean a thing
What’s the question? What’s the question? What’s your question?
